FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 26/06/08 Fans all Tangled up about a national tour. One of Ireland’s brightest, youngest bands, The Tangles, is set to begin a nationwide Irish tour in advance of the band’s upcoming EP, “We Still Play Music.” The band will be playing a host of gigs around the country – Playing venues from Galway to Belfast, and finishing up in Whelan’s in Dublin on July 3rd. The band’s upcoming tour will be the first of its kind for the members and it’s something they’ve been itching to do for the last year. Lead singer of The Tangles, Ludo De Angelis, says, “We’re still relatively young and the idea of completing a tour before your 18th birthday is daunting but ridiculously exciting. It’ll be interesting to see how the rest of the country views our music and we’ll see where it takes us from here.” With most of the band having not even sat their leaving cert, their ability and age have gained them the label of the ‘Irish Artic Monkeys’. However, De Angelis, explains “We’ve been gigging solidly over the last year mainly in smaller venues around Dublin. We’ve quickly built up a bit of cult following during that time. I’ve heard the comparisons to the Artic Monkeys - flattering as it is, we’ve got our own sound.” Between their shredding riffs and graceful ballads all the way to their fist pumping indie anthems, The Tangles are undoubtedly one of the most unique young bands to come out of Dublin in the last few years. Perhaps the other reasons the band have been compared to their famous British counterparts is the somewhat unusual headstart they’ve received from management and organisation working in the background. De Angellis explains, “Last year we met a young entrepreneur that was the Head of a foundation, called Olive Foundation. They take on unusual projects to help try and improve the circumstances of certain groups and individuals. They thought we were a pretty unusual ‘project’ and we were only delighted with the help. They provided us with a large kitty to help further the band and they’ve helped open doors in what’s a difficult industry to break.” - ENDS - The Tangles are available for interview.
